» Miami Herald Executive Editor Tom Fiedler is retiring. Anders Gyllenhaal, 55, editor and senior vice president of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, will replace Fiedler.

» John A. Rock has been named founding dean of the Florida International University College of Medicine. Rock has held administrative posts at Johns Hopkins and Louisiana State University.
» Former state Rep. Ron Saunders has filled the District 120 House seat vacated by Rep. Ken Sorensen, who couldn’t run again because of term limits.
