In case you didn’t already know it, healthcare is America’s fastest
growing industry. And with a 78-million member population of baby boomers who will increasingly need medical attention as they age,
this is one industry that shows no signs of slowing down.
Healthcare spending in the United States currently accounts for 16.7% of the nation’s gross domestic product. By 2017, health expenditures are expected to
surpass $4 trillion nationwide, and, by 2030, the number of people over the age of 65 will grow from 37 million to more than 70 million. In Florida alone, healthcare is a $100+ billion industry with more than 56,000 licensed physicians statewide.
While figures like these might seem overwhelming to some, they are music to the ears of Noel J. Guillama, President and CEO of The Quantum Group. A nationally recognized expert in healthcare management and a baby boomer himself, Guillama has been quick to identify in these numbers the potential for bringing innovation to what he sees as “a highly fragmented industry.” The key to better healthcare, Guillama says, lies in providing solutions that benefit healthcare providers, payers and patients alike.
“As an industry,” he contends, “healthcare needs leadership, vision and solutions that are simple, relevant and personal. These solutions must be patient-centric and provide both increased efficiencies for providers and improved quality of care. We have had the individual pieces to this puzzle for many years; now is the time to put them together.”
In that regard, The Quantum Group has an integral role to play. Headquartered in Palm Beach County, Fla., Quantum offers customized business solutions to healthcare providers throughout Florida. Within the group, 10 separate yet interconnected companies to date are working seamlessly to provide a variety of personalized services — from managed care contracting and medical group management to insurance, billing and collections, even websites — all aimed at increasing productivity and efficiency for healthcare practices.
The Quantum concept is an idea whose time has come, says Pete Martinez, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology & Innovations Officer. “Finding an individual who has not experienced the inefficiencies and duplicity prevalent throughout the healthcare industry is a challenge. From lengthy wait times to see a doctor to verrying your own medical records from one office to another, we all have stories.”
Committed to improving the healthcare system for thousands of Floridians, Martinez joined The Quantum Group in July 2007 after a 32-year career with IBM, most recently serving as Vice President and Senior Location Executive for South Florida.

And that’s a win-win for everyone.” |
