Visit Florida Releases Tourism Estimates
Preliminary estimates of visitors to Florida for the first quarter of 2009, released by Visit Florida, the official tourism marketing corporation for the state of Florida, show an estimated 21.9 million travelers visited the Sunshine State, down 10.6 percent from the same period in 2008.
Domestic visitation from American travelers declined 10.7 percent, overseas travel decreased by 13.0 percent and Canadian travel to Florida during the same period reflected a 7.0 percent decrease.
